Hi, I'm Adolfo Ricardo Piminchumo Sausa!
Research Intern at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology)
As a Senior Mechanical Engineering student at Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología, I am dedicated to applying my knowledge and skills to impact the world positively. My passion lies in projects related to computational fluid dynamics, theoretical turbulence models, renewable energy, and spectroscopy. I have a strong track record of ranking in the top fifth of my class and being skilled in utilizing computational algorithms and numerical analysis to study turbulent plume merger behaviour and creating CFD and FEA models. My strong decision-making, management, and analytical skills, paired with a personal and professional code of ethics, allow me to tackle complex projects successfully. I have a love for research, and I am constantly seeking opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills. With proficiency in ANSYS, SolidWorks, Python, MatLab, and EES, I am confident in contributing to any project or team. I am a driven and hardworking individual, always striving to improve and learn, and I am excited about what the future holds. Outside my studies, I co-created SISA Energy, a company specializing in HVAC and electro-mechanical systems. This experience has given me hands-on knowledge and practical skills in the field, and I have gained invaluable experience in project management, team leadership, and problem-solving.
Experience
KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology)
Research Intern
May 2023 - Present
• Participated in laboratory safety and spectroscopy training, acquiring essential knowledge for scientific research.
• Conducted experimental data collection of methane-absorbed spectra using a monochromatic laser beam at the Clean
Combustion Research Center laboratory.
• Analyzed and interpreted data to validate the project, while ensuring temperature uniformity and result accuracy
through optical cell temperature measurements
University of Alberta
Research Intern
August 2022 - December 2022
• Conducted theoretical investigations on the merging behaviour of turbulent plumes using the curvature model developed by Dr Morris Flynn's research team at the University of Alberta.
• Utilized MATLAB to assess the conduct of turbulent plumes in both stratified and unstratified environments.
• Gained proficiency in theoretical modelling techniques and developed expertise in analyzing plume behaviour.
• Collaborated with a research team to produce valuable insights into the behaviour of turbulent plumes in different environments.
Escuela de Refrigeración del Perú
Thermodynamics Teacher
June 2020 - August 2022
As a thermodynamics instructor for specialized technicians in HVAC systems, I was accountable for creating and delivering instructive lessons to assist students in grasping the basic principles of thermodynamics and their application to HVAC systems. I also encouraged practical learning by providing hands-on activities, which enabled students to apply their knowledge to real-life situations.
• Planned and structured the creation of a new syllabus in the Thermodynamics course, increasing student
satisfaction by 80%.
TERMEKS AIR
Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Supervisor
January 2018 - March 2018
• I supervised maintenance and installations of mechanical ventilation and air conditioning, managing to identify frequent failures in the systems.
• I ensured compliance with engineering processes based on local and international standards.
• I review and optimized air conditioning systems, increasing the profit margin by 12%.
• I lead a team of 10 technicians in the HVAC area.
