I worked in the operations department, coordinating airfreight and sea freight import shipments, of beverages, from the suppliers at origin to clients at destination in East African countries. I also assisted to follow up on timely customs clearance, ex￾warehousing and inland transport of clients’ cargo.

My internship role included duties in 3 sectors of the operations department:

1. International Freight forwarding - I liaised with colleagues globally at origin offices to ensure seamless transport of clients' goods from origin to destination at East African ports.
2. Customs Clearance - I liaised with clearing agents to ensure clients' goods are cleared from the relevant regulatory government bodies in a timely manner and delivered to their premises.
3. Finance - I assisted to ensure accurate invoices are received from vendors and therefore clients' files are billed correctly.

I got to work in the accounting department of the company, under the supervision of the accounting clerks, interacting with the SAP business accounting system, to perform tasks regarding imprests, supplier documents, payment of cheques and bank reconciliation during my work attachment period.
