Sylvester Chimwemwe Mlagha is a passionate Environmental Health student in his third year at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). With a strong commitment to public health, sanitation, and sustainable development, Sylvester has actively contributed to various initiatives both on and off campus. He currently serves as the Director of Health and Sanitation in the MUBAS Student Representative Council, leveraging his leadership skills to promote a healthier campus environment. Sylvester’s academic journey is enriched by hands-on research projects, including studies on menstrual hygiene management, HIV self-testing, and food safety in rural communities. His professional interests align with public health policies, environmental protection, and community welfare. As a member of the MUBAS Environmental Health Society, he collaborates with the Malawi Environmental Health Association (MEHA) to drive positive change at the grassroots level. Previously serving as a health and sanitation prefect in secondary school, Sylvester's passion for leadership and community impact has grown steadily. Outside his studies, he is an ambassador for Global 17, promoting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. With a proactive approach to solving public health challenges, Sylvester aims to pursue a career in environmental health, focusing on policy development and advocacy for better health and sanitation practices in Malawi and beyond.
