Alfred Kabba Swaray

I worked on the Smart Transportation System for Sierra Leone (SMARTRIDE SALONE) project as part of the United Nations Academic Impact Millennium Fellowship. This six-month project aimed to improve transportation efficiency in Sierra Leone through innovative solutions. My role involved researching transportation challenges and developing strategies for a smart system that would enhance mobility and reduce traffic congestion in urban areas.

During my internship at SMOLLEY'S, I contributed to the company's expansion into the Rwandan market through data analysis and customer discovery. I collaborated with a team to analyze market trends and customer needs, which played a critical role in the company's business development strategy. Our efforts helped SMOLLEY position itself as a leader in youth banking services.

During this six-month program, I gained valuable skills in digital marketing as part of YALI's initiative for entrepreneurs. The program taught me how to effectively market products and services online, leveraging social media and email marketing platforms to grow business visibility. I also learned strategies for building customer engagement and brand recognition in a digital space.

As a tax reconciliation intern at the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), I was part of a team responsible for updating and reconciling tax accounts. My main task was to work on 3% withholding taxes for the military medical insurance company, ensuring accurate account updates and compliance with tax regulations. This experience enhanced my knowledge of tax systems and financial auditing procedures.

I completed a one-month virtual internship as a Campus Ambassador for Loveonn Innovation. The internship was centered on a leadership program aimed at empowering youth, women, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through podcasting and storytelling. My role involved spreading awareness of the program and engaging with university students to encourage participation in these empowerment initiatives.

As a volunteer at the Children Forum Network (C.F.N), I collaborated with a team of 100 volunteers focused on helping vulnerable children in Sierra Leone. We worked on removing children from the streets who lacked parental care or a stable home environment. The experience was rewarding, as we provided these children with safe spaces and access to social services while advocating for their welfare.

I completed a one-year program at the Institute of Business Studies & Administration (I.B.S.A), where I studied Microsoft Office applications. This training covered essential tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher, which improved my technical skills in office productivity. The knowledge gained helped me proficiently handle documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and databases.

I taught at Dunnet Preparatory School, a nursery school in Freetown, Sierra Leone, for six months. My responsibilities included guiding young children in early learning, helping them develop basic reading and writing skills, and fostering their social interaction. I worked closely with other teachers to create a safe and supportive learning environment for the students.
