About the role
Description
Careem is building the Everything App for the greater Middle East — making it easy to move around, order food and groceries, manage payments, and more. Our purpose is simple: to simplify and improve people’s lives and build an awesome organisation that inspires.
Since 2012, Careem has enabled earnings for over 2.5 million Captains, simplified the lives of more than 70 million customers, and built a platform where the region’s best talent and entrepreneurs thrive. We operate in 70+ cities across 10 countries, from Morocco to Pakistan.
We’re now entering our next chapter — one powered by AI. We’re looking for AI talent: curious problem-solvers who know how to apply AI to build tools, automate workflows, and create real impact. Whether it’s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experience, or reimagining internal systems — we want people who can make Careem work smarter and move faster.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Functional Consultant (D365 Finance SME) to act as the primary functional owner of our ERP ecosystem. In this role, you will be the architectural anchor responsible for stabilizing our Dynamics 365 F&O environment, bridging critical integration gaps with Oracle/Saturn, and leading the deployment of high-impact modules. You will be the bridge between complex business requirements and system capabilities, ensuring that our financial operations—from automated tax invoicing to global reconciliation—run with 100% integrity.
What You'll Do
Dynamics 365 Functional Ownership
-
Primary SME: Act as the functional owner of D365 Finance, ensuring the system is stable, scalable, and audit-ready.
-
Module Governance: Own the end-to-end management of GL, Tax, Bank, Fixed Assets, and Cost Accounting.
-
Financial Lifecycle: Orchestrate Month-End and Year-End closing, ensuring all sub-ledgers (Inventory, AR, AP) are perfectly synchronized.
-
Compliance & Governance: Manage global fiscal calendars, exchange rates, and tax configurations while auditing Posting Profiles and Liquidity Pools to ensure automated entries reconcile accurately.
Configuration & New Capability Implementation
-
Feature Engineering: Design and deploy the new Contract Module for item-level back-margin and rebate calculations.
-
Revenue Redesign: Lead the transition of revenue posting logic, shifting the "Source of Truth" from Oracle to the Saturn system.
-
Process Automation: Implement bulk automated remittance for suppliers and enable automated AR Tax Invoice generation in PDF format.
-
RTV Enhancements: Upgrade the Return to Vendor (RTV) module to support item-level reporting, document attachments, and entry-edit functionality.
Technical Troubleshooting & Remediation (The "Problem Statements")
-
Integration Integrity: Investigate and resolve "Stuck Journals" (unbalanced GL batches) and fix intermittent bank sync failures between Dynamics and Oracle.
-
Inventory & COGS Management: Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on discrepancies between Item-level balances and GL-level balances; design a robust manual COGS workflow to eliminate month-end variances.
-
Traceability & Ledger Cleanup: Update the Supplier Ledger to link paid invoices directly to payment references/batch numbers and resolve "partial booking" errors caused by Admin IDs or AI processes.
-
Performance Optimization: Fix system rejections to allow "one-go" bulk processing of AR invoices for VAT and GL.
Testing & Quality Assurance
-
UAT Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of functional testing for the Contract Module, RTV edits, and PDF invoice features.
-
Validation: Perform rigorous unit and system testing to ensure all solutions—especially those involving Oracle/Saturn integrations—are 100% production-ready.
Business & Stakeholder Collaboration
-
Documentation: Translate complex remediation needs into high-quality Technical Solution Designs (TSD) and RCA Reports.
-
Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner with Finance and Operations teams to standardize notation codes on external transactions and optimize system AI capabilities.
What You'll Need
-
8–10+ years of experience in ERP functional consultancy or architecture, with a heavy focus on Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
-
Financial Mastery: Deep expertise in GL, AP, AR, and Cost Accounting, with a strong grasp of manual reconciliation and Trial Balance integrity.
-
Integration Experience: Proven track record of managing D365 integrations with third-party systems (e.g., Oracle, Saturn).
-
Technical Toolkit: Mandatory experience with Microsoft Lifecycle Services (LCS) and Power BI.
-
Analytical Mindset: Ability to perform deep-dive Root Cause Analysis on complex data discrepancies and unbalanced batches.
-
Communication: Excellent skills in translating technical "problem statements" into clear business solutions for stakeholders.
