Environmental Impact Assessment Intern
June 2017 - August 2017
- Reviewed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports presented to KWS as a lead agency on proposed development projects in relation to National Parks and Reserves in Kenya. This involved checking that project operators had adequately considered all environmental receptors that may be affected by their operation as well as put in place operational controls – both technical and administrative for managing the risks associated with their activities.
- Participated in conducting an environmental audit of captive wildlife management in the Nairobi Animal Orphanage. As part of a team, I made observations and carried out interviews to evaluate whether the captive facilities met minimum acceptable standards of animal welfare. These include animal housing, nutrition, and veterinary care.
Collated and analysed views expressed by the public during consultation regarding proposed development projects to support the Environmental Impact Assessment process.
