About PostHog
We're shipping
every product that companies need
to run their business from their first day, to the day they IPO, and beyond. The operating system for folks who build software. We started with open-source product analytics,
launched out of Y Combinator's W20 cohort
. We've since shippedmore than a dozen products
, including:A built-in data warehouse
, so users can query product and customer data together using custom SQL insights.A customer data platform
, so they can send their data wherever they need with ease.Max AI
, an AI-powered analyst that answers product questions, helps users find useful session recordings, and writes custom SQL queries.
Next on the roadmap are CRM, messaging, revenue analytics, and support products. When we say every product that companies need to run their business, we really mean it!
We are:
Product-led. More than 100,000 companies have installed PostHog, mostly driven by word-of-mouth. We have intensely strong product-market fit.
Default alive
. Revenue is growing 10% MoM on average, and we're very efficient. We raise money to push ambition and grow faster, not to keep the lights on.Well-funded. We've raised more than $100m from some of the world's top
investors
. We're set up for a long, ambitious journey.
We're focused on building an awesome product for end users, hiring exceptional teammates, shipping fast, and
being as weird as possible
.Things we care about
Transparency: Everyone can read about our roadmap, how we pay (or even let go of) people, our strategy, and how we work, in our
public company handbook
. Internally, we share revenue, notes and slides from board meetings, and fundraising plans, so everyone has the context they need to make good decisions.Autonomy: We don’t tell anyone what to do. Everyone chooses what to work on next based on what's going to have the biggest impact on our customers, and what they find interesting and motivating to work on.
Engineers lead product teams
andmake product decisions
. Teams are flexible and easy to change when needed.Shipping fast:
Why not now?
We want to build a lot of products; we can't do that shipping at a normal pace. We've built the company around small teams – autonomous, highly-efficient groups ofcracked engineers
who can outship much larger companies because they own their products end-to-end.Time for building: Nothing gets shipped in a meeting. We're a natively remote company. We default to async communication – PRs > Issues > Slack. Tuesdays and Thursdays are
meeting-free days
, and we prioritize heads down building time over perfect coordination. This will be the most productive job you've ever had.Ambition: We want to solve big problems. We strongly believe that aiming for the best possible upside, and sometimes missing, is better than never trying. We're optimistic about what's possible and our ability to get there.
Being weird: Weird means redesigning an already world-class website for the 5th time. It means shipping literally every product that relates to customer data. It means building an
objectively unnecessary developer toy
with dubious shareholder value. Doing weird stuff is a competitive advantage. And it's fun.
Who we’re looking for
Growth mindset: You'll be obsessed with finding new opportunities. Pages we should improve. Low-hanging SEO opportunities. ChatGPT prompts we should be cited in. Nothing will motivate you more than finding an opportunity, creating content for it, and measuring the impact of your work.
Tuned into new trends: The game is changing. You'll be dialed into the changing landscape of SEO / GEO. New tools we should be using. Tactics we should employ. How to measure success.
Good taste: We care about quality. We want a strong writer and editor who understands the difference between good and great content, and how to structure their work in a way that works as well for people as crawlers and agents.
What you’ll be doing
Owning top-of-funnel content: This means writing, editing, and commissioning content that will increase awareness of PostHog, our products, and new launches. This could include high-intent landing pages like the
best open-source analytics tools
,product comparisons
, orin-depth guides
.Supporting product launches: If there's a new product or feature to shout about, there's a good chance you'll be involved in either writing and editing the content to support it, or coming up with the content plan for that launch. Examples include
session replay pricing
and ourSeries D fundraise announcement
.Performance monitoring: You'll be on top of how our content is performing, unexplained drops in the traffic, what content converts to intent and/or conversions, and feeding that context to the team in an actionable way.
Maintaining existing content: We have a long tail of content that needs regular maintenance to keep up-to-date and visible in search engines. You'll need to assess how to prioritize this work, and strong takes on how to improve everything incrementally.
Informing best practices: Whether it's internal linking, or how we organise and tag content, we want some who will drive standards upwards in every area.
Requirements
Strong SEO knowledge: You need to be familiar with popular tools, like Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and the new AI visibility platforms, as well as on-page and off-page best practices.
Good writing and editing skills: Modern content marketing is all about being part-writer and editor and part-analyst. It's fine if you're stronger in one area than the other, and we can help you develop in all areas, but writing skills are non-negotiable.
Analytics expertise: It doesn't matter so much what you've used in the past, just that you know what you're looking for. We use PostHog for all our analytics, but experience using any modern analytics tool will be helpful.
Nice to haves
Technical SEO fundamentals: This is mostly a content + analyst role, but a little technical knowledge (e.g. understanding crawl budgets, server-side vs client-side rendering, etc.) will be a very useful bonus.
Already familiar with PostHog: Not necessary, but definitely useful. We use PostHog for everything.
Social media skills: Writing for social media isn't a part of this role, but it'll be useful if you can contribute here.
Experience managing freelancers and agencies: We don't currently work with external content contributors, but we don't rule it out.
Experience at similar companies: We're interested in people from any content background, but experience working at B2B SaaS startups and scale-ups is a plus, especially if you've written for a software developer audience before.
We believe people from diverse backgrounds, with different identities and experiences, make our product and our company better. That’s why we dedicated a page in our handbook to
diversity and inclusion
. No matter your background, we'd love to hear from you!
Also, if you have a disability, please let us know if there's any way we can make the interview process better for you - we're happy to accommodate.
