**About Mohamad Traore**: 

My name is Mohamed Traore, and I am 26 years old. My family originally hails from Mali, West Africa. I was born in the United States and still reside here today.

After completing high school, I went on to the University of Iowa to study engineering, and had a focus in water treatment in hydrology. After working as a student laboratory assistant in biology labs, and also working as a water treatment operator, I found myself enamored by coding, and also computer vision - I thank one of my closest friends and roommates for introducing me to the technology.

After spending much of my free time in the months leading up to the pandemic studying python programming and web development, I began creating websites for friends. These experiences helped me to build my skill set in programming, and I was able to use these experiences to secure a job with Amazon Logistics in November of 2020.

The goal of breaking into computer vision remained, so I continued on with self-study of the very basics, particularly in machine learning, thinking I was still about 2 years away from working in the industry…until I was lucky enough to be found by Roboflow after a startup competition in April 2021. I succeeded in my interviews with Roboflow, and joined the team as a Sales Development Representative in May 2021, and as one of the company’s first 10 employees.

I remain at Roboflow today, and now work in Developer Experience.
