asked:Global mental health is a growing concept as rates of depression, anxiety, suicide skyrocket around the world. How should we seek to address mental illness on a global scale? Can you please comment on the state of 'global mental health' - first of all, when we speak of such a concept, how are we defining it? Second of all, is it possible to strike a balance between a public health approach to mental health (grounded in (Western) evidence-based practices) and a culturally-based approach (grounded in local priorities, traditions and community-based resources and solutions)? Thank you.
