Career Exploration: Software Engineer vs. Security Engineer
We continue our career exploration series where we bring experts with similar titles but different functional roles and responsibilities.
One thing that's common between both roles is the design and development of programs within their organizations. Security Engineers develop programs that are aimed at enhancing the security of the organization’s technical infrastructure while Software Engineers work on coding different applications and programs for the organization and its users.
In this session, we will address the differences in the day-to-day duties of Software Engineers and Security Engineers to help you decide which career path is right for you!
Some of the topics that will be covered:
Skills that are in common and need to be held by all tech engineers and skills that are specific to each role
How to decide which path is best for you and steps to take to help you choose your first employer
Ways to develop a mindset for long term success
Prepare for interviews at top companies in the Silicon Valley
Any questions you may have about both career paths
