Experiencia
United Women Singapore
Manager, Anti-Violence Programs & Outreach
March 2020 - August 2022
Aishah was the Manager for Anti-Violence Programs & Outreach with United Women Singapore (UWS). She transitioned to the role from legal practice in March 2020 to focus on developing initiatives in the areas of gender equality and anti-violence. She developed and led its anti-violence programs, GenSafe Workplaces (Oct 2020) and UWS Boys Empowered (2021), and outreached to key stakeholders - government agencies, the diplomatic community, companies, NGOs, schools and the public, to raise awareness and advocate for gender equality, the prevention of gender-based violence and women's empowerment. These programs help to address key gaps in
the community response to domestic violence (DV), in particular, the participation of companies/employers in supporting employees experiencing DV and early engagement of boys and young men to be allies in preventing violence in the community. She connected with and featured through UWS initiatives crucial thought leaders and experts from multi-sectors, in Singapore and globally, to share their expertise and enhance the community's response to modern challenges faced by youths via targeted
workshops, speaking engagements, community summit and campaigns. Aishah cultivated civic engagement projects with UWS and its partners to educate youth on contemporary issues surrounding gender equality through student-led research and public education campaigns. She conceptualized UWS' latest program (in development) to equip girls and women with the confidence and skills to self-advocate for equity, whether at home, in the workplace or the wider community via the transference of 21st century competencies.
