Develop a population genetic study for rice species in the Americas, including Oryza glumipatula, Oryza alta, Oryza grandiglumis, and Oryza latifolia. This is performed by sequencing contemporary specimens collected in the Americas and herbarium specimens, further aligning them to the platinum standard genomes generated from our lab. This study will permit the identification of candidate accessions for neo-domestication and will help establish a valuable genomic resource.

Developed a possible approach for colorectal cancer (CRC) therapy through combination therapy of 5
fluoro-pyrimidynes (5FU) and Super Paramagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (SPIONs). CRC cells
underwent a continuous cell culture and Bradford Assay was used to measure the protein concentration of
lysate samples. Western blot was used to detect the signaling activation of β-2 adrenergic receptor
signaling (ADRB2) pathways that oppose apoptosis during toxic 5FU and SPIONS treatments

Two lab experiments were carried out: relaxation in porous media and the influence of
brine on the settlement of sediments. The outcome of both labs supported the evaluation of
water content and that the brine addition to sediments contributes to a faster relaxation and, subsequently, a faster supernatant height evolution.

Thermal therapy (hyperthermia) holds a promising treatment for tumor-affected patients particularly those with surgery intolerance. Recent advances and clinical trials for therapeutic purposes of heat shock proteins (Hsp) inhibitors and the astonishing progress in the field of nanotechnology pave the way for novel strategies for combined and effective treatment and targeting of the tumor cells. In here, we highlight the history of hyperthermia, as a therapeutic tool for tumors, and provide the state-of-the-art regarding the promising synergism between hyperthermia, HSP modulation and the targeted nanoparticles for tumor cell targeted therapy
