The purpose of this research is to determine the role of the prudential regulations in deposit taking Sacco’s. The research will help identify whether the regulations are important and to what extent they provide for the safety of the members and the financial soundness of the Sacco. The research will also help identify the need for these regulations and the entire legal framework involved in ensuring that there is financial soundness of the Sacco’s.
Cooperatives should be in support value addition to ensure that they make greater profits out of the resources that they have. They should promote access to markets-do away with brokers and middlemen. Cooperatives should Develop National capacity in marketing value added and branded products as well as gathering market intelligence. This would ensure that the cooperatives are able to command a large part of the market through the acquisition of markets as a result of the value added products.
