Hi, I'm Juliet Mwale!

Monitoring and Evaluation Program Assistant Intern at ShEquity

Juliet Mwale, a graduate in Environmental Science, is deeply passionate about the environment and the need for clean and accessible energy. Specifically, she is highly motivated to improve waste management practices in order to promote public health. Juliet is eager to explore entrepreneurial ventures within waste management, particularly solid waste management, with the goal of creating cleaner and safer communities. She draws inspiration from the environmental situation in Lusaka and the recent cholera outbreak, and she is determined to find solutions to environmental degradation for the sake of sustainability. Juliet has previous experience in monitoring and evaluation through her work with ShEquity. In this role, she collected data on businesses that took part in the SHEBA investment readiness training program. Her responsibilities included tracking their progress and evaluating the effectiveness of the training on these businesses. Additionally, Juliet was involved in developing performance monitoring plans and M&E systems to ensure the collection and analysis of data for assessing the impact of the training. She also prepared reports and contributed to the development of project review processes, assessments, surveys, and other evaluation methods. ShEquity is a gender-lens investment vehicle that aims to provide smart and sustainable investments for African female entrepreneurs and innovators, championing inclusive socio-economic growth. Juliet's volunteer experience with Pestalozzi Children's Village has been instrumental in the development of her conflict management skills, time management abilities, and patience. Working with adolescents and assisting them in their personal growth, nurturing their talents, and exposing them to different career options aligned with their strengths has been immensely valuable. These children come from vulnerable backgrounds with limited exposure, and being part of Pestalozzi World allows them to develop themselves while attending prestigious schools for their education. Juliet's interests align with areas of research in waste management, wastewater treatment, environmental engineering and technology, environmental law and policy, climate change and adaptation, and environmental management. However, her interests are subject to change as time progresses, as she finds fascination in many aspects of the natural world. She enjoys reading books of various genres, and she is particularly excited about reading "Atomic Habits."
