Team Description

Reddit is in a phase of rapid innovation and growth. They are hiring across three distinct teams:

• Ad Safety & Verification Team: This team protects the Reddit ads ecosystem, ensuring users have a safe ads experience and advertisers trust the platform. They build high-scale products that span consumer-facing apps and ads systems, handling tens of millions of requests daily.

• Ads Creative Management (ACM) Team: This team focuses on tools and systems for advertisers to create and manage their ad content efficiently. They collaborate with AI teams to provide intelligent content suggestions.

• Brand Innovation Team: They develop new ad formats to help advertisers maximize brand impact. The team focuses on high-visibility solutions and supports major brand initiatives, evolving existing ad formats and launching new ones.

  Role Description

  As a generalist mid-level backend position within the Ads Organization, engineers are responsible for:

• Working on microservices and APIs for the advertiser-facing product, ads.reddit.com.
• Ensuring the right ad is shown to the right user at the right time through distributed systems.
• Building backends for interactive ad experiences like Polls and Games.
• Developing real-time, data-intensive systems to measure ad campaign performance.

• Supporting infrastructure for all these services.

  Technologies used include Go, Python, and Scala for programming; Spark, Thrift, Baseplate, and Kafka for frameworks; and Postgres, BigQuery, Redis, and Druid for datastores. Tools include Kubernetes, Argo, and Docker.

  Mid-level engineers are expected to be effective core contributors, capable of independent coding, and eager to learn and grow. Collaboration with senior engineers on complex solution designs is also a part of the job.

  Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers to design and implement ads products.
• Work closely with platform and data teams during feature development.
• Improve operational stability through enhancing code quality, and delivering dashboards and data visualizations.
• Build components aligned with product objectives.

• Manage project tasks, including updates, timelines, and execution oversight.

• 3+ years of software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (Java, Scala, Go, C++, Python).
• Able to take complete ownership of a feature or project.
• Experience working in the Ads domain (Bonus).
• Experience or interest in the advertising business and understanding customer needs (Bonus).
